Welcome to our Website

This web site has been created to encourage members and ex-members of The 1st Battalion The Parachute Regiment and the wider 1 Para family to reunite friendships old and new.

Many friendships were formed during our service and as is common practice these friendship fall by the wayside when we return to civil life and contact is lost. However this is your life line to a brighter future and a rekindling of the past years of service life and the Esprit-De-Corps which makes us what we are - Airborne Brothers.

What Manner of Men are those that wear The Maroon Beret!
They are firstly, all volunteers and are then toughened by hard physical training. As a result they have that infectious optimism and that offensive eagerness which comes form physical well-being. They have jumped from the skies and by doing so have conquered fear.  Their duty lies in the van of battle: They are proud of their honour and have never failed in any task. They have the highest standard in all things, whether it be skills in battle or smartness in execution of all peacetime duties.  They have shown themselves to be as tenacious and determined in defense as they are courageous in attack.
They are in fact, men apart.

Every Man an Emperor

Appeal re Jack Rawley?

I recieved the below and wondered if there is anyone out there who can help the lady. Who knows we may find out more about one of our past hero's.

 Dear Huey,

Thank you for your email it is appreciated.

Firstly my name is Lynette Stewart, I have never been in the Army myself although my husband was in the AAC for 24 years.

The reason I joined the forum was because I thought you might be able to help me out on a little bit of family history, I know its a bit cheeky of me to ask you or other members of the forum this.

My grandfather Jack Rawley was in 1 Para during the war and I have been led to believe by a photo one of my cousins has, that 1 Para was formed from 11th Regiment SAS. I saw this photo for the first time last night.

Infact I will attach two photos here for you to look at.

The first one is my grandfather and the second one is apparently H troop 11th SAS Regiment my grandfather is sitting bottom left on the photo.
I also have a photo on my wall in the house taken at Manchester Ringway airport taken when my grandad was doing his para training.

I do know that my grandfather was taken prisoner at Arnhem.
I hope this has answered some questions for you. Kind Regards

Lynette

Say thanks to our Troops

Have you ever seen one of our military walking past you
and wanted to convey to them your thanks,
but weren't sure how, or it felt awkward?

Recently, a gentleman from Seattle created a gesture
which could be used to express your thanks
and has started a movement to get the word out..

Please everybody take just a moment to watch.....
The Gratitude Campaign
...and then forward it to your friends!
